Modern science now confirms that the microcosm and macrocosm merge, that the laws which govern the planets, humans, the atoms are the same. Everything comes together in a perfect circle, that connects internally and externally, the Man with the Universe. It is the Law of Analogy.
Maps of the symbolism of the human body have been drawn by many traditions so as to link, by analogy, body parts or organs affected by disease (or injury), to the mental, emotional and energy spheres that relate to them. The law of analogy can make connections that rational analysis cannot approach, and that Cartesian logic prevents us from seeing. Analogy is also the key of ancient symbols and traditions.
Many medicines called “unconventional” (official term chosen by the EEC) are based on the analogy and symbolism of the human body. What are these mysterious relationships? Any injury, pain or disease to any body part refers (among other considerations)to the following analysis:
The left side of the body is connected to the Yin (feminine) energy and the right side to the Yang (male) energy.
The eyes: the ability or inability to see (things, but also situations).
Neck: openness and the ability to see things from a new angle.
Throat: reflects the ability to speak, what is said, what is remembered. The throat is home to the 5th chakra, called the communication chakra.
Shoulders and trapezoids: responsibility (“to carry the world on one’s shoulders?) and job related stress (i.e.: non-emotional stress).
The hands reflect what we give, and what we receive. Tradition has it that the left hand receives and the right hand gives.
The back is the seat of the past.
Joints: flexibility of mind, tolerance.
The skin is the link between the inside and outside. It reflects shyness, self-esteem. The skin is the largest organ of the body. It is associated with the Lung Meridian, because the lungs are the other body interface between the inside and outside (air absorption).
The bones represent the deep structure of the individual.
Legs: the ability to move forward in life or to reach out to others.
The knees are related to pride or submission.
The ankle represent the ability to change direction, or opinion.
The intestines: the ability to let go and get rid of what is no longer needed (people, ideas, beliefs …)
