What is the difference between acupressure and acupuncture?

Acupressure and acupuncture are two of the five branches of Traditional Chinese Medicine. They are based on the same knowledge, the same approach of the human being. They have the same goal: to balance the vital energy. To do so, one uses needles (acupuncture), and the other the practitioner’s hands (acupressure). Acupressure consequently induces touch, which is not the case with acupuncture.

What is the difference between acupressure and reflexology?

The term “acupressure” is a generic term that refers to any technique that uses finger pressure on points in order to balance the energy and revive / stimulate the natural self-healing capabilities of the body. An acupressure modality may be simple and symptomatic, or sophisticated and deeply therapeutic. Shiatsu is the modern Japanese version of acupressure. Reflexology is a form of acupressure.

How can I use acupressure on myself although I am not a professional acupressurist?

The key here is to be shown the acupoints by a professional acupressurist. Once you know where the points are, and how to work them, you are set!
But don’t worry, nothing unhealthy or dangerous can happen to you or your face if you miss the points.

Are there any adverse effects to acupressure?

No. Acupressure is one of the 3 main branches of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is a therapy, and as such it heals. Unlike drugs, its modality is to strengthen the body natural self-healing abilities. It is safe and natural.
If you have a healing reaction when practicing the facial rejuvenation exercises (skin detox, better sleep, etc), just pause for a few days and resume the exercises. You will notice a new youthful healthy glow!

Isn’t the eyes area too fragile to apply acupressure on it?

Acupressure is not about massaging. Just apply steady finger pressure without moving or stretching the skin.

How long should I practice before I can see some results?

As for a diet, facial rejuvenation takes place in two stages: 1) reach the results you targetted 2) maintain the results by practicing the exercises time to time. Depending on the condition of your face when you start the program, the results are visible in one to three weeks. It is common to see changes on the very first day.

How long do the exercises take?

The longest routine is the Daily Programme and it takes 10 minutes. It should be practiced twice a day during the first phase, and every two or three days to maintain results.

Is acupressure efficient for hollowness under the eyes?

Yes it is. It will just take a little longer to see the results.

At around what age should I start practicing facial acupressure?

You can start the program as soon as you notice any changes in the tone and texture of your skin. That can happen during your thirties. However, in your thirties you do not need to practice twice a day (once might be enough).

It all sounds a bit too good to be true. Is there a catch?

The only catch is that you have to be prepared to try the exercises! Remember: it is what you do 90% of the time that counts.
