Spleen Meridian

The spleen is a part of the lymphatic drainage system, essentially it helps to clean the blood. In TCM, the Spleen is responsible for the digestion, i.e. taking nutrients derived from the air and food, and transforming and then distributing the nutrients (such as energy, aka ‘Qi’) throughout the body. This is why fatigue and anemia are often linked to a breakdown in the Spleen’s functionality.
Blood sugar regulation issues such as diabetes or hypoglycemia, obsessive thinking, foggy headedness, poor memory, fatigue, lack of will, feeling deep emptiness, swelling edema, challenged immune system and fertility issues are all symptoms of Spleen imbalance. A person with spleen system imbalance often has lots of ideas, but lacks the motivation or groundedness to implement them.
To keep your Spleen healthy, eat a balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables, and exercise regularly. Nourish your Spleen with foods that are somewhat warm in nature, like ginger.
